Meet the band

 

JON MELVILLE - SAXophones

 

Jon began learning the piano when he was 3 and also took up the saxophone at the age of 12 . As a graduate of Nottingham University he is now making his way in Leeds as a performer, composer and teacher.  He has played in numerous bands and combinations which has given him wide ranging experience. Jon is currently writing material for a new jazz quintet, "Khamsa", which was formed towards the end of 2008. He also runs and plays keyboards in "Afro Levy", a popular function band based in Leeds.

GEOFF CHALMERS - BASSES

 

 

 

Geoff Chalmers is a professional electric and double bassist who specialises in jazz music. He has a degree in jazz studies from Leeds College of Music and has now achieved a PGdip at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He has played with numerous jazz ensembles/big bands/theatre shows and pop groups. In 2007 he appeared on ITVs This Morning backing X Factor singer Ray Quinn. He is also a regular member of the Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas show which has played many UK theatres as well as Barcelona and a 2008 tour of Prague.

BRIAN MELVILLE - KEYS

 

 

 

Brian  has been a musician for many years and has performed in a variety of venues in the UK and Europe. His first love is jazz music but is not averse to playing any type of music when the occasion arises. Favourite bands include Chick Corea Electrik Band, The Yellowjackets, Dave Weckl Band and Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Brian is currently playing a Roland FP3 electric piano and a Korg Triton synthesizer.
